Level 3 Handgun Safety
This class is designed for individuals who have been through the Level 2 handgun course (or equivalent). This is a higher-level intermediate course that will further develop the shooting skills learned in the Level 2 course. This course is shot from concealment. Participants are expected to wear normal daily street clothing with their weapon concealed.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of a Handgun II course from BAFT or equivalent from a BAFT recognized school. Current LE/MIL exempt.
Goals
Our Handgun III classes are designed to build on and further develop the shooting skills learned in the Handgun II class. This is a higher-level intermediate course that emphasizes safety while balancing speed and accuracy. The student is expected to shoot this course using a concealment holster and covering garment. The student will develop a higher level of shooting proficiency and an appreciation for the challenges of engaging targets at speed and at different distances, and transitioning from strong to weak hand.
Subjects covered include:
- Review of existing skills 
- target engagement at speed 
- Malfunction clearance at speed 
- Reloading drills 
- One-handed shooting - both strong and weak hand 
- Shooting from 1 yard with a Speed Rock drill 
- Shooting during advancing and retreating movement 
- Varied distance shooting from 1- 25 yards 
Equipment Needed
- Cleaned and Oiled Handgun 
- 250 rounds of factory range ammunition 
- Leather gun belt (or other appropriate material) 
- Leather or kydex (strong –side) outside the belt or inside the waistband Holster Note: the holster MUST cover the trigger and trigger guard and allow proper gripping without manipulation. 
- Magazine pouch 
- Three or more magazines 
- Ear Protection (preferable electronic) 
- Eye Protection
