Level 1 Handgun Safety

This class is designed for individuals that have limited or no experience with a handgun and want to increase their knowledge. Subjects covered include:

  • Basic firearms safety

  • Dominant eye

  • Firearms safety at home

  • Firearms safety at the range

  • How a handgun operates

  • Revolver vs semi-auto pistol

  • Handgun/caliber selection and set up

  • Proper care and maintenance of handgun

    • opportunity will be provided during class for you to clean your firearm

  • Proper loading and unloading

  • Every day carry accessories

  • Presenting the handgun from the holster

  • Shooting stance, grip, and trigger manipulation

Goals

Our classes are designed to teach individuals proper handgun safety; fundamentals of shooting; handling, storage, and transportation; and weapon maintenance and cleaning.

Equipment Needed

  • 100 rounds per weapon

  • Cleaned and Oiled Handgun or a basic cleaning kit

  • Ear Protection (preferable electronic)

  • Eye Protection

  • Leather gun belt (or other appropriate material)

  • Leather or kydex (strong –side) belt or inside the waistband Holster Note: the holster MUST cover the trigger and trigger guard.

  • Two magazines
